Sandboxes are billed per hour from your credit balance, based on the resources you give them.
A sandbox is billed per hour from your credit balance for as long as it is alive, based on the vCPUs and memory you give it. The create form shows a live cost estimate before you launch.
How it is billed
- The hourly rate scales with the resources (vCPUs and memory) the sandbox is provisioned with — a default 1 vCPU / 512 MB sandbox starts around $0.056/hour.
- The first hour is reserved on launch, so a sandbox you create and immediately delete still bills its first hour.
- Billing stops when the sandbox is deleted or reclaimed. A sandbox left idle is reclaimed automatically at the end of its TTL, so a forgotten sandbox does not bill forever.
| Component | Detail |
|---|---|
| Rate | Per hour, scaled by vCPUs / memory |
| Minimum | First hour reserved on launch |
| Paid from | credit balance |
| Stops when | Deleted, or reclaimed at end of TTL |
Tip
Snapshots let you keep a sandbox's state without keeping it running — snapshot and delete when you step away, then start fresh from the snapshot later, so you only pay for the hours a sandbox is actually alive.
